The East Longmeadow Rotary Club is a community service organization.  We are part of a global organization called Rotary International, which has more than 35,000 Rotary clubs around the world.  Collectively, we work to make lasting contributions in our local communities and around the world.  The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self.”

Our Club was Chartered in East Longmeadow in 1970.  Over the years, our Club’s Rotarians have been involved in a multitude of community activities that have enriched the lives of people living in East Longmeadow.  Our Annual Summer Concert Series is one example.  We are also involved in the East Longmeadow July 4th Parade, Fireworks, National Night Out, Taste of East Longmeadow and this year, the July 4th Carnival.  Other community activities have included a Dictionary Project for elementary school children, Children Easter Party at Wingate Nursing Home and an Annual Scholarship Program for East Longmeadow High School senior students.  Our Club’s efforts have reached beyond our community to the international community-for example, disaster shelters for Haiti after its earthquake and Feeding the Children Program in India.  I welcome you to visit our Rotary Display Trailer at each concert to get more information about our Club and its activities.
Each year, Rotary International has a new Global Theme chosen by its incoming President. This year’s President, Barry Rassin, has chosen the theme: “BE THE INSPIRATION”- drive to do more, to be more, to create something that will live beyond each of us.
If you would like to make a difference in your community, please consider becoming a Rotarian.  Talk to a club Rotarian working at the concerts or join us for lunch at the Twin Hills Country Club-we meet every Thursday afternoon at 12:15 p.m.  Our website is www.elrotaryclub.org.
